Vytautas Magnus University (Lithuanian: Vytauto Didžiojo universitetas) is a well-established public university founded in 1922 in the city of Kaunas, Lithuania. Originally named the University of Lithuania, it was renamed in 1930 to honor Grand Duke Vytautas Magnus on the 500th anniversary of his death. The name reflects the university’s dedication to national identity, cultural heritage, and historical significance.
Today, Vytautas Magnus University stands out not only for its legacy but also for its strong presence in the European higher education landscape. It is a member of the European University Association (EUA), the European University Foundation, and the European Association for International Education. The university employs over 1,000 staff members, including around 90 professors.
